If one goes anywhere on the east-coast where any kind of battle of any note has taken place, there is usually some kind of roadside marker. In France, there are almost none. This exception looks like a marker created by someone affiliated with the 5th Infantry Division.
Jen and I stumbled upon this one; the plaque of which read:
Left flank of the 9th Inf Brigade 5th US ID after believing 80th div and 4th 11th ?? St 18
This marks the the jump off trench for the 5th US Div Oct 14 1918
