While we began to explore the 3rd Infantry Division’s battlefield at the Meuse Argonne, to the east of the Madeline Farm, we discovered a German cemetery from World War I.
According to the markers below, 979 soldiers are buried here. The graves are two persons per marker:
Notice the contrast with the way the American grounds are kept; no dandelions for the Americans:
Back to the German Cemetery. Random headstones and grass clippings piles are dumped in a corner:
When you are on the losing side, no one cares, I guess.
